In February, 2021 the volunteers of CDRS International had planned to embark on their fifth playground build. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, it has been postponed to February 2022. (Or until it is once again safe to travel ) This time, the group is planning on heading to an island off the coast of Belize called Ambergris Caye.  They have reconnected with their partner from Nicaragua, Patrick Hiebert, who will be the prime contact on the ground in Belize. A specific location has not yet been chosen, but they will be building in a suburb of San Pedro called San Mateo.

Everyone’s first thought about the islands of Belize is beautiful sandy beaches and all-inclusive resorts. However, off the beaten track and away from the eyes of the tourists are children and families who struggle to make ends meet. Although their basic needs have been met (food, water, clothing), they have very little in the way of school supplies and play apparatus. Our mission statement remains,

Making a difference in the lives of others through donations and fund-raising, to provide recreational apparatus, educational material and/or services for youth in countries less fortunate”

We are hoping to take along school supplies, sports equipment and uniforms in addition to the playground that was so generously donated by St. Pius School.

Once again, our volunteers are prepared to pay their own way to help make a difference in the lives of others. We are excited about our upcoming project, and will be holding various fundraisers to assist in the costs of transporting our container across the world. Upcoming events will continue to be updated on this website or on our Facebook page.
